I really have no valid excuse for a 6 month blog hiatus other than, oops. It was a quiet summer and fall has been anything but! In adoption terms, we traveled to Ft. Smith, AR in early September to have our fingerprints updated at the USCIS offices. Because yes, according to the government your fingerprints do in fact expire every 15 months. That is just the first part of the yearly update. Over the next few weeks we started paperwork for our homestudy update. Let me tell you, one is not nearly as prompt the second time around (on the third I will be filling stuff out as he walks in I'm sure). Our social worker visited our house the week of Thanksgiving. We visited for about 30 minutes, passed off paperwork, and he was on his way. Once we receive our revised homestudy from him in the next few weeks we will submit it, along with our fingerprints, to USCIS for another 18 months of being approved to adopt internationally.
I know I have said it many times, but it is crazy how much this process has gone nothing like we expected it to. We thought we would have a little girl with us by this Christmas. With the wait at 7-11 months when we started, that was entirely possible. We are now 15 months since finishing our dossier and looking at probably another 15 months of waiting (but who really knows, right?) Even though we would love to have our little girl home, the last year has shown us (yet again) that His timing is perfect and His plans far exceed what we can imagine for ourselves. Had the program not slowed down, our agency wouldn't have opened up a concurrent family building option and we wouldn't have this face to stare at...

I can't imagine this little guy not being a part of our lives.
Okay...so now we are ready.
